Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (86) has died. The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reports it, among others. Berlusconi is 86 years old. The leader of the centre-right ruling Forza Italia party was admitted to Milan’s San Raffaele hospital on Friday.
The politician was also in hospital a few weeks ago. He had a lung infection due to chronic leukemia and had to stay in the hospital for a month and a half. Berlusconi has been struggling for years with fragile health. He too ended up in the hospital after being infected with the corona virus.
Billionaire
Berlusconi was Italy’s prime minister three times and left his mark on the country. But the businessman and billionaire was also a controversial man outside of politics. His life was marked by power, but also by sex scandals and constant allegations of corruption and tax fraud.
