Khamenei’s nuclear response: nothing wrong

According to Iranian state television news, Khamenei spoke at the event in the capital Tehran, where he received employees of the National Atomic Energy Agency and nuclear scientists.

Noting that his country has made significant progress in the nuclear field, Khamenei pointed to the nuclear deal signed in 2015, which could not be implemented after the unilateral withdrawal of the United States.

Khamenei said: “In previous years, nuclear industry executives and officials have built major nuclear infrastructure in the country. There is nothing wrong with the (Nuclear) Agreement, but the infrastructure of our nuclear industry must not be touched.” saying.

Denying accusations that Iran’s nuclear activities are for military purposes, Khamenei said: “The American intelligence community has recognized the fact that Iran has not taken a step toward producing nuclear weapons many times, including in recent months. , and they themselves know that we are not pursuing nuclear weapons.” he said.

Noting that weapons of mass destruction have no place in Islam, Khamenei said: “If this was not an Islamic base and we had the will to produce nuclear weapons, we would have done it. And the enemies know they can’t stop us.” She used his statements.

NUCLEAR AGREEMENT AND NEGOTIATION PROCESS WITH IRAN

In 2015, an agreement was signed between Iran and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the USA, Russia, China, the United Kingdom and France, and Germany (5+1), in which They regulated Tehran’s nuclear activities and were controlled in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

On May 8, 2018, during the presidency of Donald Trump, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions on Iran.

Iran, for its part, began suspending its activities in the deal on May 8, 2019. Although Iran allowed uranium to be enriched to 3.67 percent in the deal, it began enriching uranium to 60 percent purity in this process. .

The nuclear talks, which began in Vienna in April 2021 after Trump and focused on reviving the Iran nuclear deal and bringing the US back together in the deal, were suspended in early September 2022 due to a series of of disagreements between Washington and Tehran. Steps taken by Iran, including enriching uranium well beyond what was allowed in the nuclear deal, after the US left the deal, make it difficult to return to the nuclear deal.

Mohammad Islami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency, said in a statement yesterday that they carried out the high-level uranium enrichment process, prompting the reaction of Western countries, to ensure that the sanctions were lifted. (AA)
