Thousands of South Koreans died before being able to see their families in the North

According to data from the South Korean Ministry of Unification, after the last family reunification event between South and North Korea in August 2018, the number of South Koreans who died waiting for their families in the North reached 16,000.

Democratic Party representative Yang Kyung-sook said in a statement on the subject: “South and North Korea should act as soon as possible to organize events to reunite separated families.” he used the phrase.

According to data from the Unification Ministry, a total of 133,680 people in South Korea have applied to reunite with their families in the North since the first reunification event, but about 70 percent of the applicants lost their lives.

Finally, in 2018 a family reunion event was held and the meeting of war victims was the scene of emotional moments.
