Two passenger planes made contact, the runway was closed

Japan’s Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced that Thai Airways and Eva Airways planes made contact at Haneda Airport.

According to the statement, the passenger planes of the two companies touched at around 11 am local time while rolling on their wheels on the rule highway route.

It was reported that there were 264 passengers on the Thai Airways flight and 207 passengers on the Eva Airways flight, and there were no injuries in the incident.

A part of the wing of the Thai Airways plane crashed into the ground near the touchdown point, NHK public television news reported.

A passenger on the Eva Airways flight told local media that he felt the impact of the collision before takeoff and the wing of the Thai Airways plane broke off at the edge.

The Civil Aviation Bureau announced that the operations of the two passenger planes have been halted and that the 3,000-meter-long Runway A has been closed for possible damage assessment.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL), one of Japan’s largest airlines, announced that some scheduled flights may experience delays. (AA)
