33 countries intervened in the case of genocide opened by Ukraine
In a written statement from the ICJ, it was indicated that the applications of 33 of the countries that requested to be involved in the case on the violation of the genocide agreement between Ukraine and Russia have been accepted.
In the statement, it was reported that among the states whose requests to intervene were accepted were EU member states, in particular, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Norway.
In the statement, it was indicated that the right to intervene can be accepted in cases where it is related to the interpretation of an article of the genocide convention in question, noting that the request of the US, which requested the intervention , was rejected because it was not related to the interpretation of an article but to the general course of the case and the amparo decisions.
In the statement, it was indicated that the states whose request to intervene was accepted had until July 5, 2023 to submit a written statement to the court.
The ICJ, in its court order of March 16, 2022 in the lawsuit filed by Ukraine against Russia, demanded that Russia immediately stop the “military operation” launched on the territory of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB )
