Turks seeking refuge in the EU will be detained first and then deported

The countries of the European Union discussed for hours in Luxembourg the issue of illegal immigration and refugees. All member states agreed that illegal immigrants entering the borders of the European Union must first be detained and then “returned to the country they came from” within a short time. Turks who rank third in asylum in the EU will also be detained and deported.

Immigration and asylum laws are tightened for the first time in the history of the European Union. During lengthy negotiations, Germany’s request to “grant children to refugees” was not accepted. The decisions taken anticipate that immigrants arriving in the EU will not be as comfortable as before and may be deported quickly.

FIRST MEASURE: PRISON CONDITIONS…

Beginning in 2024, asylum seekers, immigrants, or fugitives who came to the country illegally will no longer remain in camps as houses. First, these people will be held in conditions similar to “prison conditions.” These centers will be strictly controlled.

In the current situation, immigrants could live in the camps for 6 months, travel wherever they wanted and even work.

THE COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT WANT TO GIVE MONEY

Countries that do not want to accept immigrants with the right to asylum within the EU or that can receive them will pay money instead.

A special agreement was reached for 50,000 refugees who came to Italy from North Africa or from other countries across the Mediterranean. These refugees have been registered and will then be shared across the EU.

FROM Türkiye AND SYRIA

Those who come from Turkey, Syria or Afghanistan and apply for asylum illegally will also be detained and subject to a 12-week review.

At the end of the period, the asylum seekers will be sent back, declaring their country of origin to be “safe”. Those arriving via Turkey will also be returned to Turkey if they are denied asylum.

In the flow of illegal immigrants to the EU, Turks had risen to third place after Syrians and Afghans.

The text of the agreement will enter into force after its approval by the European Parliament.
