Officials who spoke to the newspaper stated that the Chinese government is planning to build a “big spy base” in Cuba and that a large amount of data could be captured in the spy base in Cuba, which is very close to Florida. No information was shared on the details of establishing an electronic listening base.

It was also stated that China is willing to pay “billions of dollars” to Cuba, which is in economic crisis, and that the two countries have agreed in principle. While US intelligence reported this development to the US President Biden’s administration, it was also claimed that there was concern about a new threat in Washington.

Washington sees Beijing as its biggest economic and military competitor. The fact that a Chinese base with advanced military and intelligence systems is in the “backyard” of the US increases the scope of the danger to the US.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, said: “I cannot make a statement on this report, but I know that China is making efforts to invest in military infrastructure in different parts of the world.” Kirby also stressed that they are closely monitoring developments in the region.
