Three-year sentence: The wife of El Chapo’s beauty queen is released from jail
Emma Coronel Aispuro, former US beauty queen, has been released after serving 15 months of a three-year prison sentence for drug trafficking. Aispuro will serve the last week of her sentence at her home.
The 33-year-old married El Chapo in 2007 and is estimated to be the fourth marriage for the 66-year-old drug lord.

According to the Daily Star report, Aispuro was arrested in February 2021 and sentenced to three years in prison on drug charges and money laundering, reaching a plea deal. After serving 15 months, the mother of El Chapo’s two sons left FMC Carswell, Texas, to serve out the remainder of her sentence at her Los Angeles home.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the development to the publisher Univision. As part of the plea bargain, Aispuro admitted to acting as a messenger between Guzmán and other members of the Sinaloa Cartel while her husband was in prison.
