French President Macron promises help in the next few hours
The Ukrainian government has called on the international community for relief efforts following the destruction of the Kakhovka dam earlier this week. President Volodimir Zelenskyi discussed the situation over the phone with French President Emmanuel Macron. He says he will send help in the next few hours. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has asked for help from international organizations.
Zelensky informs the media that people died in the floods as a result of the broken dam. ‘People and animals died. From the roofs of the flooded houses, people see how the drowned float.’
