Turkish name for the migrant operation in Germany
In a large-scale operation in Essen, Germany, members of a human trafficking ring were arrested.
In the police statement, it was noted that as a result of the operations, which in Turkish were called “Passenger”, numerous places were raided this morning.
The network allegedly smuggled into European Union (EU) countries, including more than 800 people, was claimed to have been destroyed during the operations.
In addition to the raids in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), it was recorded that the police carried out raids in the states of Brandenburg and Bavaria and in different countries in Europe and detained the suspects.
Syrian Abdulhanan A, 38, who was caught in a raid on a house in the Steele district of Essen, was claimed to have been arrested.
Special forces police were claimed to have been involved in the arrest of the suspect, who applied for asylum in Germany in 2021 and stayed with a relative. (AA)
