Schengen visa statement from Germany to Turks – we are proud

Visa message from the German embassy in Ankara

As the debate about “European countries do not grant Schengen visas” continues among Turkish citizens recently, the German embassy in Ankara made a statement on the matter.

In the statement issued on the embassy’s Twitter account, “German foreign representations in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir are proud to have granted approximately 100 thousand Schengen visas in the period January-May 2023. This number has increased by 50 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and has returned to the level of 2019 before the pandemic. In addition, we have issued more than 18,000 national visas in 2023. Currently, Germany does not issue more visas to any country in the world than Turkey. This is possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of our 112 employees in the visa departments.
