20-year-old shipyard worker dies
The union LİMTER-İş, affiliated with DİSK, reported that 20-year-old İbrahim Dal lost his life as a result of falling into the sea while working on a pontoon at the Hidrodynamic Shipyard in Tuzla.
Kanber Saygılı from LİMTER-İş Union said: “In a month and a half, 5 of our colleagues were victims of the murder of workers. The only reason is that the health and safety measures at work are seen as unnecessary expenses that increase the cost by the heads of the shipyards and their subcontractors”.
‘EVEN MURDER OF WORKER’
The Union of Shipbuilding and Shipping, Warehouse and Warehouse Workers (LİMTER-İŞ) announced on its social media account that 20-year-old İbrahim Dal died when he fell into the sea while working on a pontoon at the Hidrodynamic Shipyard in Tuzla .
LİMTER-İŞ Union said in a statement on its Twitter account:
“Deliberately a worker killed in the shipyard! Branch Abraham. from Urfa. He died at the age of 20 when he fell into the sea while working on a pontoon at the Hydrodynamics Shipyard. His colleagues stated that İbrahim was noticed two hours after he fell into the sea and was not wearing a life jacket”.
THEY CLASSIFY THE OMISSIONS IN CASE
Kanber Saygılı, president of the LİMTER-İŞ union, made the following assessment regarding the murder of the worker in question:
“Occupational murders continue unabated in shipyards where outsourcing and disorganization prevail. In a month and a half, 5 of our colleagues were victims of the murder of workers. The only reason is that occupational health and safety measures are seen as unnecessary expenses that increase the cost by the heads of the shipyards and subcontractors.
Today, a 20-year-old friend of ours fell into the sea while working on a pontoon at the Hidrodynamic Shipyard, and his body was recovered two hours later. Since the sea is rough, there should be no work on the pontoon, but work is done on the pontoon.
However, even if the pontoon is being worked on, at least one observer must be present, there is no observer. Our colleague has to wear a life jacket, he doesn’t have a life jacket.
If these measures had been taken, if they had not been seen as unnecessary expenses, our colleague would be with us right now and among us. We have only one solution, the only solution is the organization of the working class in the shipyards. In conditions in which we are not organized, we will continue to be victims of the profit greed of subcontractors and employers in general”. (PHOENIX)
