Cornel West is running for President of the United States
In a video message posted on Twitter, West announced that he will run for the Popular Party in next year’s presidential election “for truth and justice.”
Saying he hates no one in his message and talking about “empowering the marginalized,” West said: “No political party wants to tell the truth about Wall Street, Ukraine, the Pentagon and Big Tech.” he performed the assessment of it.
“DESTRICATION OF DEMOCRACY”
In his message, West stressed that he is concerned about issues such as wages, affordable housing, women’s right to abortion, health care and climate change, as well as “the destruction of American democracy.”
Describing former US President Donald Trump as a “neo-fascist,” West described current President Joe Biden as “a neoliberal milkshake.”
West, a black philosopher, is known for his work on issues such as racism and democracy, and is noted for his black rights activism.
JOBS AS A PHILOSOPHY TEACHER
West, who has taught at major American universities such as Princeton and Harvard, is currently a professor of philosophy at Union Theological Seminary.
The People’s Party was founded by Nick Brana, who endorsed Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders in 2017 after the 2016 presidential election, with the goal of “building a new great progressive populist party in the United States.”
Among the names announcing their candidacy for the Republican Party in the US are former US President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former US Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley, the young billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, businessman Perry Johnson, conservative black radio host Larry Elder, Senator Tim Scott, and politician Asa Hutchinson. Former US Vice President Mike Pence is also expected to officially announce his candidacy this week.
From the Democratic Party, President Joe Biden, nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and writer Marianne Williamson had officially announced their candidacy. (AA)
