Kudos to British intelligence chief Hakan Fidan’s fake account

Richard Moore, head of Britain’s MI6 intelligence service, congratulated Hakan Fidan, who was deputy secretary of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) for many years, to the Foreign Office, on Twitter. However, the account to which the message was sent did not belong to Hakan Fidan.

According to BBC Turkish news, Moore tagged a fake account opened in the name of Hakan Fidan while sharing his congratulatory message. MI6 Chairman Moore, who is also a former British ambassador to Turkey, addressed Hakan Fidan in his message: “I wish my friend and former colleague success in his new role. Good luck, Minister! He wrote.

Moore added a smiley emoji after hundreds of Twitter users warned him: “Wow, this is embarrassing! But even if the account is a parody, my best wishes come true!” she used his statements.

In the account profile information included in Moore’s congratulatory message, the phrases “Not an official account” and “Parodi account” appear in both Turkish and English. Twitter users wrote humorous comments on Richard Moore’s post.

Richard Moore, who also served as British ambassador to Turkey for a period, was appointed head of the SIS Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6, in July 2020. During his tenure in Turkey, Moore attracted a lot of attention, especially with his social media posts and followers of Beşiktaş.

Born in Libya, Moore previously served in various roles with MI6 and as a national security adviser. Moore is fluent in Turkish and has served in Vietnam, Turkey, Pakistan and Malaysia during his career.
