Mawar nightmare in Japan: evacuation call for thousands

In Japan, which was affected by the tropical typhoon Mawar that erupted in East Asia, one person died and 2 million people were called to temporary evacuation.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has updated its alerts for Tropical Typhoon Mawar, which has affected the southern and eastern regions of the country, including the capital, Tokyo.

Reiterating river flood and landslide warnings for Pacific coast states, the JMA called for the emergency evacuation of the elderly in the capital Tokyo and some surrounding areas. It has been reported that more than 5,000 people spent the night outdoors after temporary stops on the high-speed train lines that connect the capital with the southern metropolises.

It was announced that some roads in Aiçi province were flooded after the river level rose, and one person died in Toyohaşi, a province in the province.

In the provinces of Gifu, Shizuoka, Aichi and Mie, a temporary evacuation call has been made for a total of nearly 2 million people, while in Wakayama, two people who went missing in the flood are being searched for. (AA)
