The head of the Russian mercenary army Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin has once again sharply criticized the Russian military and political elite. Prigozhin especially directed his anger at the powerful residents of the posh Rublyovka neighborhood in Moscow’s western suburbs. He called them “scum” and “pigs” who keep quiet while Moscow is under attack. Rublevka is home to much of Russia’s political, economic and cultural elite.
Prigozhin is in good company, according to the American think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Russian military blogger Igor Girkin also criticized the residents of Rublyovka for “never giving a thought to the country and never will”. Girkin was found guilty in a Dutch court of killing 298 people who died in the 2014 downing of flight MH17 over Ukraine.
Kadyrov
The wanted blogger was also critical of President Putin for continuing to call the war in Ukraine a “special military operation” despite drone strikes on the Russian capital. Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov has urged the Kremlin to declare martial law and use all its resources in Ukraine “to wipe out that terrorist gang”.
According to ISW, Kadyrov warned European countries against supplying arms to Ukraine, saying that ‘if they keep supplying arms to Ukraine, they won’t have the weapons they need to defend themselves when Russia’ is at their doorstep. That’s right. ‘.
