DeSantis chooses religious campaign to kick off related articles

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis began his campaign in the US state of Iowa. The governor of Florida is Donald Trump’s biggest challenger. “It was a big bow to the Evangelical Church,” says US correspondent David Hammelburg.

“What he wants to prove is that he’s a good, super-conservative Christian,” says Hammelburg. “His embrace of the church is real, unlike his arch rival Donald Trump.” DeSantis emphasized that he was not involved in any sex crime, tax fraud, and theft of confidential documents lawsuits. “He wants to be the best candidate in the class.”

Its message, however, isn’t much different than Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again.” DeSantis points out that the United States is going in the wrong direction and that he will reverse the situation.

Retail policy

DeSantis is known for radical statements and has a lot of support within the Republican party. “He’s not very good at what Americans do Retail policy call. Ringing bells, having personal conversations with people in backyards and at barbecues.’

“DeSantis shows up as the hero who can drag the country away from the gates of hell just in time”

David hammelburg, US correspondent

According to Hammelburg, Obama was “lord and master” in this, just like his opponent John McCain at the time and also current President Joe Biden, while Donald Trump only attends mass rallies in stadiums. DeSantis has to relearn door-to-door politics if he is to get anywhere. He so far he has not been able to do it. That too is a lesson for him.”

Left wave

He presents himself as the main opponent of Trump while ideologically there is not much difference. In his speech, DeSantis opened the attack on the leftist wave in the United States “A normal shopping list,” says Hammelburg. Democrats are far-left socialists and champions of awakening culture. They are LGBT+ propagandists, they molest the souls of children with sex education and they support abortion, which in their eyes is infanticide’. DeSantis comes across as the hero who can drag the country away from the gates of hell just in time, Hammelburg says.

For the Republican base, the choice between Trump or DeSantis will therefore be above all a matter of emotion and sympathy, thinks Hammelburg. “It doesn’t matter much in terms of content.”
