The ‘overthrow of the government’ debate between the two countries! The crisis grows

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on a TV show that Croatia sees Serbia as its regional rival, saying: “Croatia does not want to see a successful Serbia. Like Kosovo, Croatia wants the government to be overthrown because a weak Serbia is also in their interest.” saying.

Vucic assessed that Croatia is one of the parties that believes that the Serbian government will be weakened by the protests in northern Kosovo for a while.

“NO HIDDEN AGENDA”

Faced with these accusations by the Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic de Vucic, “the Croatian government and its institutions do not have a hidden agenda to overthrow the government of any neighboring country, including Serbia.” he said.

Assessing the violence between Serbs and NATO peacekeeping force (KFOR) soldiers in Kosovo yesterday, Plenkovic said: “Croat soldiers were not involved in the events that took place yesterday.” he made the statement.

TENSION IN NORTH KOSOVO

On May 26, Kosovar Serbs protested the election of Albanian mayors who won local elections on April 23 in the municipalities of Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic, where Serbs are concentrated in northern Kosovo.

As protests continued in the region, the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Peace Corps (KFOR) surrounded municipal buildings with barbed wire and increased the number of personnel in the region.

There was a clash between the Kosovo police, who were sent to the region to protect the Albanian mayors, and the Kosovo Serbs.

Serbia also decided to position its army on the border with Kosovo.

Serbia considers Kosovo, which unilaterally declared its independence in 2008, as its territory. (AA)
