Children injured in Florida beach shooting
9 people were injured in a shooting that took place in the Hollywood region of Florida on Memorial Day celebrated yesterday in the United States.
Florida police spokeswoman Deanna Bettineschi told the media that most of the injured were taken to the local children’s hospital. By specifying that 4 of the injured in the armed attack were between 1 and 17 years old, Bettineschi announced that one of the injured underwent surgery yesterday.
Bettineschi noted that the attack began around 6 p.m. local time, at least one weapon was used, and one person was detained. The investigation into the incident continues as police continue to search for other suspects.
Yanet Obarrio Sánchez, spokeswoman for the hospital where the injured were taken, stated that all the injured are stable.
The shooting occurred on the Oceanfront walkway in Hollywood. The area in question gets more visitors than normal on Memorial Day. (AA)
