European summit in Moldova coming soon
In Moldova, the 47 leaders of the European Political Community, born from an idea of French President Emmanuel Macron, will meet next week. In particular, the speech will be about war and peace in Ukraine, so Russia and Belarus will not be present, according to Europe reporter Geert Jan Hahn.
Furthermore, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is most likely being discussed and there is room for bilateral meetings without an agenda, Hahn thinks. Space that was used last year, for example, to lower the price of gas. “It’s a plan with many legs on the table,” says Hahn.
“Russia is failing badly”
BBC One panelist Bill Browder said Russia was “failing quite a lot”. The writer, who has published two books on Russia about his experiences in the financial world, says that “corruption has eroded the Russian military”.
This would become especially visible in the heavy losses suffered by the Russian armed forces. Both in the field of men and in the field of ammunition and equipment.
Zelensky responsible for his own speeches
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky is said to be responsible for 80% of writing his own speeches. The Kiev Post reports it in an article about the team of screenwriters behind Zelensky.
Journalist Maryna Shashkova’s piece is about a heart on the tongue. “She always knows what she wants to say and immediately formulates it into bite-sized sentences,” said a source. “The writers just have to listen and write and fill in the details that Zelensky may not have said.”
Killed and three wounded in air attack on Kiev
At least one person has been killed and three injured in a Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, Ukrainian authorities said. At least twenty drones were allegedly shot down by anti-aircraft guns.
A 41-year-old man was killed when debris falling from drones hit a gas station, Mayor Vitali Klitsjko said. In other places in the city, fires have broken out in buildings due to falling drone debris. Klitsjko warns of a new wave of drones heading towards Kiev and advises residents not to leave bomb shelters.
