According to national media reports, the prosecutor’s office, which opened an investigation after many people lost their lives in anti-government demonstrations, decided to take Boluarte’s statement on May 31, alleging his participation in the disproportionate use of force.

Boluarte’s lawyer, Joseph Campos, stated in his statement on the subject that comprehensive responses to the complaints will be given when the day comes.

According to the news on the El Comercio website, President Boluarte asked the Prosecutor’s Office to postpone his statement until June 1, so he will participate in a national exercise on May 31.

Demonstrations in Peru caused concern.

The prosecutor’s office announced on January 10 that an investigation was launched into the deaths in the protests.

According to the country’s human rights organizations, it was claimed that 50 of the 69 people who died in the protests were the result of direct intervention by security forces.

The demonstrators demanded the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, the closure of Congress and the immediate calling of early elections.
