South Korea supplies ammunition to Ukraine via the United States
Hundreds of thousands of South Korean artillery shells are headed towards Ukraine via the United States after Seoul initially resisted arming Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed sources. According to the newspaper, Seoul has reached a “confidential agreement” with Washington so that munitions can be sent to Ukraine via the United States.
Jeon Ha-kyu, spokesman for South Korea’s defense ministry, said Thursday that there had been talks with the Pentagon over ammunition exports, but said there were “inaccurate parts” in the WSJ message, declining to provide details. “There have been several discussions and requests, and our government will take appropriate action as it comprehensively examines the war and humanitarian situation in Ukraine,” Jeon said in a briefing.
Zelensky appeals to Iran: ‘Avoid slipping into the dark side of history’
Ukrainian President Zelensky on Wednesday urged Iranians to reconsider supplying Russia with deadly drones to stop it sliding into the “dark side of history”. Iranian-made Shahed drones supplied to Moscow have played a major role in Russian attacks on cities and infrastructure. Zelensky now claims that the Ukrainian air defense is adept at shooting down the hundreds of drones aimed at Ukrainian targets.
“The simple question is this: what is your interest in being complicit in the Russian terror?” Zelensky said in his night talk video. What is the benefit to Iran of such cynical killings? By Russian hands, but with your weapons, your weapons… You Shaheds, by terrorizing Ukraine every night, only mean that the Iranian people are being pushed deeper and deeper into the dark side of history.”
