Rachele Scarpa, MP for the Democratic Party in Treviso, where Ilaria’s family is located, made the following statements on the subject:
“I immediately contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as there was a case involving a citizen in our region. Obviously, these are complex situations, situations in which common sense and vigilance are essential. What I can say is that the Consulate and Farnesina handled the case very professionally. We need to trust the institutions. As always, the State Department will follow the matter closely.”
