5-year-old Turkish boy found alone in the Netherlands: Claims to be a victim of the earthquake
In the southern Dutch city of Maastricht, a 5-year-old Turkish boy who claimed to have been a victim of the earthquake was found alone.
In the news reported by the Turkish BBC, it was claimed that the boy did not know a word of Dutch, and that he was investigating how the unknown child came to the country.
In the statement made on the Maastricht police’s Instagram account with the caption “Alone in the big city”, it was stated that a 5-year-old Turkish boy was found wandering alone in the city center.
The Turkish-speaking boy, who did not speak any Dutch, was taken to the police station by the police in a candy store.
The boy, who was served food and ice cream at the police station, chatted with a Turkish-speaking policeman.
MOTHER AND FATHER WERE INJURED IN THE EARTHQUAKE
Explaining that he came from Turkey, the boy said that his parents were in his country and both were injured in the earthquake on February 6.
The boy, who was handed over to social workers, was reported to have been sent to a shelter.
There was no information on how the 5-year-old boy got to the Netherlands. It was stated that the Dutch authorities are investigating this matter.
