Remote work also encouraged them: the demands changed in the intelligence service
Working from home, spread by the Corona virus, is still popular all over the world and in different sectors. Finally, Bruno Kahl, head of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND), announced that they had difficulty finding enough staff after their retirement and left, and that there was a vacancy in their staff.
“We cannot offer the specific conditions that are expected for today’s youth,” Kahl said, describing finding the right staff as an “increasing challenge.”
“For security reasons, remote work is not possible at the BND, and not being able to take your cell phone to work is not very convenient for young job seekers,” Kahl said, according to Reuters.
I CAN’T FIND EMPLOYEE
According to official figures, some 6,500 people work for the BND. The intelligence service was established in West Germany during the cold war in 1956 and remained unchanged after the 1989 unification. East Germany’s foreign intelligence department, the HVA, was purged.
The BND has sparked controversy in recent years, having worked closely with the United States before the invasion of Iraq and spying on journalists in Germany.
While this is the case in Germany, its UK counterpart, MI5, says in its career section on its website, offers job seekers the chance to “flex your work model, which means you can work within personal commitments”.
The CIA, the US intelligence service, said there were “various task forces” operating on a work-from-home model.
