Armenian Prime Minister: We recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that they are ready to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan if Azerbaijan guarantees the safety of the ethnic Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Pashinyan’s statement appeared in Russia’s TASS news agency.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, also said that they believe that the signing of a peace agreement with this country is inevitable despite the 30 years of occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia and the destruction in the region, and are making efforts for it.

During the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the foreign ministers of the two countries met in Moscow last week. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Azerbaijan and Armenia are getting closer to a common understanding on the peace agreement.

“Our partners confirmed today that it is difficult to act on certain aspects of the peace agreement without solving the problems related to the delimitation of borders, the removal of barriers to transport and economic ties, and the improvement of the security situation in Karabakh and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border,” Lavrov said. With the participation of the Russian Federation as a consultant, it was agreed to organize a meeting of the bilateral commission on the determination of borders. (AGENCIES)
