Italian insurance company Unipol Gruppo has purchased Starlink terminals from aerospace firm SpaceX to help with rescue and recovery efforts in water-damaged areas in Italy. Bloomberg reports.
Floods in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna have already killed more than ten people and displaced more than 10,000, Italy’s Ansa reported. Rescuers have tried to reach dozens of villages closed by the flood. More than 20,000 Italians are without energy.

The terminals, which provide connection to the Internet, can provide rescuers with crucial services. Flood victims can also contact them via the internet, according to Unipol. SpaceX, Elon Musk’s aerospace company, has pledged to move some satellites to hit the affected area.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is set to leave the G7 summit in Japan early to assist her country amid heavy flooding, sources familiar with her report.
