Turkish mother and her two daughters found dead in Germany

A Turkish woman and her two young daughters were found dead in a shelter in the town of Herten, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

In a statement issued by the police, it was reported that 37-year-old Ruziye Öz and her daughters Peri (8) and Masal (5) were found dead in the room where they were staying, and their 35-year-old father, Uğur S ., was detained in the city of Marl on suspicion of murder.

It was learned that the family, which came to Germany from Antalya last year, is continuing with its procedures to settle in Germany. A family member who did not want to be named said: “They came from Antalya last year. Ruziye was traveling to Turkey with her children on a work visa. They came from Türkiye last Sunday. We were going to come to me on Monday and enroll in school,” she said.

The family relative said, “I am calling all the time that day, no answer. I was worried, it’s Tuesday and still no answer. I called the hostel they were staying at and expressed my concern. We had the door open for the assistant. They saw the condition of man very badly. We asked the woman and the children, she said ‘she went to the market’ but we didn’t believe it. We went the next day, there were no women or children, we informed the police. The police arrived, the firemen, there were the bodies of women and children and the man escaped. We went and gave a statement,” he said.

The prosecutor’s office and the police launched an investigation establishing a murder commission. (AA)
