UN: Everyone has a responsibility for Ukraine
The UN Secretary General’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, responded to a question about South Africa’s peace efforts in Ukraine at the daily press briefing.
Dujarric claimed that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa called UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and informed him about the initiative.
“We see that well-intentioned countries are doing what they have to do. There is nothing surprising in that. Everyone has a responsibility in this regard.” Dujarric said, emphasizing that the Secretary General also fulfills his duty.
Dujarric noted that everyone wants the conflict in Ukraine to end within the framework of the UN Charter, relevant resolutions and international law.
AFRICAN COUNTRIES PEACE MISSION
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the leaders of 6 African countries will create a peace mission as part of their efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In his phone calls, Ramaphosa claimed that African leaders offered a peace mission to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and that both leaders accepted the peace mission offer. (AA)
