Spain lowers the prices of cinema tickets for people over 65 years of age
It has been pointed out that a budget of 10 million euros has been allocated for the application of discounts on cinema tickets over 65 years of age, according to a decision of the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the Minister of Culture and Sports Miquel Iceta.
It was indicated that with the application in which the film industry will collaborate, the cinema ticket, which is normally 8 to 9 euros, will be reduced to 2 euros for those over 65 years of age, which will be valid in all cinemas in the country.
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in his speech at the rally of his party (Socialist Workers’ Party) on May 14, said that the objective of this application was to encourage the return of people over 65, who They were the group that had the greatest difficulty in maintaining the habit of cinema after Covid-19, in movie theaters.
With the effect of Covid-19, the number of spectators in cinemas in Spain is still 40% lower than in 2019.
All ticket prices were reduced to 3.5 euros for one week, on the occasion of “Cinema Day” that is celebrated in the country this week. (AA)
