US President Biden’s first comment after the election
US President Joe Biden gave a surprising answer to journalists’ questions about the elections in Turkey.
According to the news reported by Turkey’s VOA, Biden answered questions from reporters while riding his bike during his weekend vacation in Delaware. Biden was asked to comment on the elections held in Turkey. A reporter pointed out to Biden that there could be a conflict in the election and asked for his comment.
Biden said: “Is this true? I did not receive any information, ”he said.
Biden laughed at the reporter’s words “The opposition party claims to be in the lead, while the state press says that Erdogan is in the lead.” “Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? No look, hopefully whoever wins wins. There’s enough trouble in that part of the world if that’s not the case.”
ERDOĞAN SAID ‘BIDEN GAVE THE ORDER’
One day before the election, the US State Department issued a statement on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s words: “Biden gave the order to overthrow Erdogan.” In the State Department statement, it was stated that Washington closely followed the election and did not take sides.
A State Department spokesman said Turkey has been a longtime ally of the United States and that Washington was closely watching the election. “Our only concern is the democratic process, which must be free and fair. We are confident that the Turkish authorities will conduct the elections within the framework of their traditions and democratic laws.”
