Trevor Jacob took off alone from the Santa Barbara airport in November 2021 in a plane with a camera mounted on it, complete with a parachute and a selfie stick. However, the plane crashed in the Los Padres National Forest 35 minutes after takeoff, and Jacob, 23, who went to the scene, took the pictures of the plane.

Now it turns out that this accident was actually done intentionally by the YouTuber himself.

According to the BBC report, Trevor Jacob said he shot the video as part of a product endorsement deal and deliberately made the accident to get more views.

The California US Attorney’s Office reported that Jacob did not intend to reach his destination, but planned to parachute from the plane during the flight and record the plane as it crashed. He pleaded guilty to destroying and concealing evidence to hinder a federal investigation and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Jacob reported the incident to the National Transportation Safety Board, who informed him that he needed to remove the wreckage.

Returning to the scene by helicopter later, Jacob had removed the debris and destroyed the evidence. Jacob’s pilot’s license, who posted the footage in December 2021, was revoked last year. (AA)
