Russian writer Prilepin wakes up from a coma after a bomb attack

10:45 am | Russian nationalist writer Zakhar Prilepin has woken up from an artificial coma, reports the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Prilepin was injured by a car bomb there on Saturday. His driver was killed.

The Russians say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the attack. He is said to have acted on behalf of the Ukrainian secret service. The bombing is under investigation.

Prilepin, 47, is considered pro-Kremlin and supports a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Recently, the well-known military blogger Vladlen Tatarski was already killed by a bomb in a St. Petersburg cafe. Last August, another attack in Russia killed the daughter of ultranationalist ideologue Aleksandr Dugin.

Poland: Dangerous Russian aircraft action over the Black Sea

10:15 am | The pilot of a Polish border guard aircraft temporarily lost control of the plane on Friday after it was intercepted by a Russian fighter jet over the Black Sea, the Polish border guard said in a statement on Sunday.

The Polish plane was flying a mission for the European border agency Frontex, which monitors the external borders of the European Union, and was under the command of Romania. According to the Poles, a Russian plane carried out “aggressive and dangerous maneuvers” without first establishing radio contact. The Russian plane would have flown just 5 meters in front of the Polish plane.

Despite the turbulence, the Polish crew managed to land the aircraft safely in Romania. Romanians call the incident “another proof of Russia’s provocation in the Black Sea.”

In March, a US drone and a Russian plane collided over the Black Sea. The drone crashed. Countries blame each other for this.

Margarita, 60, is the widow of Robert Louis-Dreyfus. After her death, she inherited most of the shares in the 172-year-old trading house Louis Dreyfus, which made billions of dollars trading commodities. She also became chairman of the supervisory board. Although the company was founded in France, the headquarters have been based in the Netherlands for years on paper.
