Tragedy of migrants in Mexico: Hundreds kidnapped
The Mexican government reported that the number of irregular migrants kidnapped by fraudsters and drug gangs exceeded 2,000 last year.
The National Directorate of Migration of Mexico announced that 2,115 people kidnapped by gangs in the country in 2022 were of different nationalities. Gangs collect or kidnap and ransom irregular migrants trying to reach the United States to cross the Mexican border.
Yesterday it was reported that 10 Colombian irregular migrants who disappeared in the city of San Luis RÃo Colorado, in the state of Sonora, on the country’s northern border, were found in good health.
It was revealed that the smugglers demanded a ransom from their relatives in the US for the missing immigrants.
Mexico is one of the transit routes for irregular immigrants who want to go to the United States from other countries in Central and South America. Migrants who arrive in Mexico in harsh conditions fall into the hands of migrant smugglers or drug gangs. (AA)
