Death on Hunger Strike Raised Tension: Rocket Attack on Israel
Following the death of Palestinian prisoner Hıdır Adnan, who has been on hunger strike for 87 days in an Israeli prison, a rocket was fired from the blockaded Gaza Strip in the direction of Israel.
In a written statement made by the Israeli army, it was noted that three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel. It was stated in the statement that all the rockets fell in open ground and that the air defense systems did not respond to the rockets.
In addition, it was observed that warning sirens were activated in settlements around the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian prisoner Hıdır Adnan has been on a hunger strike for 87 days, which began against Israel’s “administrative detention” in prison without trial. Palestinian resistance groups announced that Adnan passed away earlier today.
Although human rights organizations stated that Adnan was “at risk of certain death” if he was not transferred from prison to hospital due to his deteriorating state of health, the Israeli court rejected this request on two occasions. (AA)
