Senior Wagner member jailed in Norway, where he sought asylum
Medvedev was acquitted of the charge of engaging in a confrontation with the police during his detention before the court.
Medvedev, who pleaded guilty to carrying a weapon, was sentenced to 14 days in prison for disturbing public order and carrying a weapon in public.
DETENTION
Medvedev was detained by police after a fight in an Oslo bar in February.
At the April 25 hearing, his lawyer admitted that Medvedev resisted arrest and spat while handcuffed, but claimed that he did not kick the policemen.
MEDVEDEV SEEKS ASYLUM IN NORWAY
The Norwegian Immigration Service (UDI) confirmed that Medvedev had applied for asylum on January 16.
After the file was submitted to the Norwegian authorities, Medvedev was transferred to Oslo.
While the Wagner Group, owned by Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, is known to operate in many countries, mainly on the African continent, the company announced last month that it had established a “friendship and cooperation center” in Serbia. (AA)
