Conservative Party Election Promise: Sex Toy
The Democratic Party, one of the most entrenched political movements in Thailand, which stands out for its conservative stance, made an interesting promise to increase its votes for the upcoming general elections.
The party said that sex toys should be legalized to prevent prostitution and sexual crimes in the country. Party spokesman Ratchada Thanadirek said that despite the bans, sex toys entered the country illegally and the government lost the ability to collect taxes on these products.
Ratchada stated that these products have many social and economic benefits and will reduce divorces.
The party also proposed establishing a sex toy industry in Thailand.
The sale of sex toys is banned in Thailand, and those who violate the ban face jail time and fines. However, these products can be found in many side streets of the capital, Bangkok.
Having lost many votes in the 2019 election, the Democratic Party hopes to make a comeback in the general election to be held on May 14.
