Israel prevents Palestinians from entering and leaving Jericho
According to the Palestinian state television report, Israeli forces tightened military measures around the city of Jericho for two days and closed the entrances to the city and set up checkpoints.
Israeli forces, which prevented Palestinians from entering and leaving Jericho, detained a Palestinian youth at the checkpoint in the south of the city.
LONG QUEUES AT CHECKPOINTS
An eyewitness who spoke to the AA correspondent said that hundreds of meters of long queues formed due to the checkpoints set up at the entrances to the city.
The witness explained that the Israeli army has been verifying the identity of those who left and entered the city one by one since Saturday morning, saying that this caused large crowds at the points in question.
In footage shared by Palestinian activists on social media, long lines of vehicles are seen on either side of the checkpoints, with surrounding Palestinians distributing food to people who had to wait there for hours on Eid.
Jericho is known as one of the favorite cities for Palestinians from other cities in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Israel, especially during the holidays, due to its numerous recreational and entertainment facilities.
There was no explanation from the Israeli authorities about the situation in Jericho.
