Peskov: My son fought with Wagner’s mercenary forces in Ukraine
While the war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than a year, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made a remarkable statement.
Peskov, who is one of the most trusted names in Russian President Vladimir Putin, spoke to the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. Peskov said that his son, under a secret name, participated in the Ukrainian war and fought alongside the forces of the Wagner mercenary group.
While the war that began in 2022 became one of the deadliest conflicts in Europe after World War II, it was the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West after the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
More than 354,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded in the war that lasted for more than a year. While Peskov said that his 33-year-old son, Nikolai Peskov, participated in the war, it should be noted that such a statement first came from high-level Russian officials. The 33-year-old Peskov was also said to have made the decision himself.
