The tanks that the United States will deliver to Ukraine will soon be in Germany for training
Austin, host of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting held at the Ramstein airbase in Germany, held a press conference after the meeting.
Austin said the M1 Abrams tanks, which will be used to train Ukrainian military personnel, will be in Germany in a few weeks.
US Chief of Staff General Mark Milley also stated that the tanks to be shipped to Germany are not combat vehicles, they will be used for training purposes to teach tank personnel how to fire, maneuver and keep.
Mark Milley noted that other tanks were also refurbished at this time and that they were working to expedite delivery.
“I think these tanks will make a difference on the battlefield when they are delivered,” Milley said. saying.
Both US officials did not say how many tanks will arrive in Germany, but US media reported that 31 of the M1 Abrams tanks are expected to arrive in Germany by the end of May and training will take about 10 weeks.
The United States had long resisted giving tanks to Ukraine. The Joe Biden administration found itself in a difficult situation when Germany stipulated that the United States should supply tanks first in the debate over supplying Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
The administration changed its rhetoric in no time and announced that 31 M1A Abrams tanks would be purchased on January 24 for delivery to the Ukrainian military. Thereupon, Germany announced that it would deliver the Leopard 2 tank to Ukraine and allowed countries with these tanks to take steps in that direction.
NO DECISION YET TO EVACUATE FROM SUDAN

Noting that a final decision on the evacuation has yet to be made, Austin said: “We’ve sent some forces into the region to provide as many options as possible when we’re asked to do something, but we haven’t been asked to do anything. . still. It hasn’t been decided yet.” he said.
There were reports in the international press that the United States had sent large numbers of troops to its base in Djibouti. (AA)
