The leak that shook the US: ‘Ukraine planned to attack Russia in Syria through the PKK’

The Washington Post newspaper wrote that in the leaked documents of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), there is information that Ukrainian military intelligence plans to carry out a covert attack against Russian forces in Syria through the organization PKK/YPG terrorist under the ODS in Syria.

The newspaper story, based on leaked documents, included details of the attack plans and how the process would continue if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy did not halt the operation.

The documents claimed that Ukrainian military intelligence officers planned to carry out the attacks through these groups by training the PKK/YPG militants in northern Syria to avoid any connection to the government in the possible attack on Russia.

‘PKK/YPG LOOKED AT THE OFFER’

The plans also included unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strikes against Wagner’s Russian forces. The confidential documents said the PKK/YPG was willing to accept the proposal if it was guaranteed that its role in training, logistical support, defense systems and operations would be kept secret.

According to the report, Zelenskiy suspended his plans for operations at the end of December last year, and the reasons for this were the detection of logistical difficulties such as “the issue of inter-Kurdish border control and the establishment of an operations center”, the limited supply from Ukraine of drones and doubts about the success of the attacks and US pressure.

In the report, it was claimed that such strikes would “strengthen” US coalition operations in eastern Syria if Russia “more aggressively” controls Syrian airspace or relocates air defense weapons.

In the newspaper commentary, it was claimed that Ukraine, with its plan to open a new front in Syria, aims to increase the cost and casualties of Russian forces and Russian security company Wagner active in the region, thus diverting Russian resources from Ukraine to Syria. (AA)
