Southern Cyprus to extradite PKK member
According to reports in the Greek Cypriot media, the Larnaca District Court has decided on the conditional extradition of Kenan Ayas, 49, detained since March 15 and declared a member of the PKK, under the “Arrest Warrant European”. issued by Germany.
The court made Ayas’ extradition conditional on his not being handed over to Turkey and removed to southern Cyprus if he receives a sanction or restriction as a result of the trial in Germany.
It has been reported that Kenan Ayas, whose extradition has been decided, will be handed over to the German authorities as soon as possible after the completion of the process.
Kenan Ayas, wanted by Germany on charges of “membership of a terrorist organization”, was detained and arrested on March 15 as he was leaving the Greek Cypriot Administration from Larnaca airport. Ayas had been in the Greek Cypriot administration as an asylum seeker for over 4 years. (AA)
