Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny faces new criminal case. According to the Kremlin, he is responsible for the unrest in the prison where he is serving more than 11 years in prison. It could take another five years.
This is the tenth criminal case against 46-year-old Navalni, spokeswoman Kira Jarmish said on social media. “He is already facing 35 years in prison, but that’s not enough for Putin; he wants Alessio to be in prison forever and asks that new criminal cases be invented against him using totally inhumane methods».
Stench
The new case was presented after a fellow prisoner with poor personal hygiene conditions was admitted to Navalni’s cell, while he himself was absent. The stench was so strong that Navalni later refused to return to his cell.
It would be customary in prison for Navalni to forcibly kick the cellmate out of his cell in this case. But Navalni refused to do so because the prisoner in question was innocent and the prison used him as an ‘instrument’.
Provocation
Instead Navalni would simply be dragged out of his cell, which would be on screen. Navalni then allegedly grabbed the smelly cellmate by the collar and dragged him towards the door. The spokesman speaks of a staged ‘provocation’.
The spokesman said last week that Navalni is suffering from severe abdominal pain, possibly from a slow-acting poison he has been injecting. He can’t eat because he’s not allowed to receive food parcels, prison food would make his condition worse. He was taken to the hospital.
