Ceremonial disaster: 13 people die from heat stroke

According to Indian media reports, an award ceremony was held yesterday in an open area in the Kharghar district of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, in the west of the country.

In the region where the air temperature was 38 degrees, the ceremony participants were affected by the heat, many women fainted.

13 PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES

During the ceremony, 13 people, 9 of whom were women, between the ages of 30 and 64, died as a result of heat stroke.

Eight of the more than 20 people affected by the heat and hospitalized continue to be treated.

On the other hand, in the Navi Mumbai Police statement, it was emphasized that there was no stampede at the event.

43 DEGREES SEEN

Meanwhile, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the air temperature was measured at 40 degrees in many cities across the country.

The air temperature reached 43 degrees in Murshidabad, West Bengal and 40 degrees in Bankura.

Education was discontinued after grades 39 and 40 were observed in some cities in different parts of India.

It was warned that the temperature in Maharashtra could rise 2-3 degrees for 3 days.

The world’s second-largest wheat producer, India, imposed restrictions on wheat exports last year due to hot weather that affected agricultural products.

While heat waves increased the country’s energy needs, last year saw power outages in some states.

Experts warn that heat waves can negatively affect people who work in open areas. (AA)
