Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu stated that the Pacific Fleet was put into a state of high war readiness within the scope of the inspection.

Shoigu, at a meeting with military authorities in the capital Moscow, said that inspections were carried out in the army at the instruction of President Vladimir Putin. Stating that this was done for the purpose of detecting and improving the readiness of military forces, Shoigu said: “Today at 9 o’clock (Vladivostok time), the Pacific Fleet was activated and began to enter the state of high preparation for war. .”

Shoigu continued as follows:

“The purpose of the inspection is to improve the ability of the armed forces to repel the aggression of a potential enemy in oceanic and maritime areas. The fleet will need to prepare for combat operations in a short time by developing a training plan in accordance with the orders of the General Staff and conducting some combat training in near and far sea areas.

In this context, Shoigu emphasized that the possible deployment of the enemy to the southern part of the Sea of ​​​​Okhotsk, the island of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands in the North Pacific Ocean must be prevented, and shared the information that control will be carried out . under the direction of the Chief of the Russian Naval Forces, Admiral Nikolay Evmenov.
