Panic in Germany: the new method of thieves is to blow up ATMs
The new method of thieves in Germany is amazing… Recently, ATMs belonging to banks have been detonated in different cities of the country and robberies have occurred.
An explosion at ATMs owned by Santander and Deutsche Bank last month raised security concerns, while Britain’s Reuters news agency reported that at least one ATM a day was bombed.
According to data from the German Interior Ministry, such attacks are claimed to have increased by 40 percent since 2019, while investigations into the incident continue.
Although there are approximately 53,000 ATMs in Germany, the country with the largest economy in Europe, it was noted that attacks have increased especially in the town of Ratingen. The fact that Ratingen is close to the Dutch border causes Dutch gangs to increase their attacks in the region.
According to official data, while in 2021 392 ATMs were detonated and a robbery was organized, a total of 20 million euros were stolen. Last year it was reported that ATM attacks rose to 496.
In the first four months of 2023, 47 attacks have been reported so far.
