Description of Russia’s ‘grain corridor’: it is not possible to extend it

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the part of the Grain Corridor Agreement that refers to Russia has not been implemented and therefore its extension in the future is not considered possible.

The Ministry made a written statement on the United Nations (UN) Secretary General’s press release on the Grain Corridor Agreement between Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations (UN) on July 22 in Istanbul. In the UN statement, which emphasized that the facts about the implementation of the agreement were distorted, it was recalled that the agreement in question was made in a package.

Noting that there are problems with ship inspections in Istanbul within the scope of the grain deal, the statement said: “It is not the first time that inspections have been carried out within the scope of the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul since the signing of the agreement. the deal. Currently, 28 ships carrying more than 1 million tons of food await inspection in Turkish waters. However, UN officials at the coordination center responsible for creating the inspection plan tried to support the Ukrainians in registering the ships under the agreement, by giving up the program.

‘MUCH OF THE SHIPPING GOES TO THE EU’

In the statement, it was also indicated that shipments of grains from Ukraine decreased by 2.6 percent to countries in need, more than 40 percent were made to countries of the European Union (EU), which is against the agreement. .

The statement claimed that the part of the grain deal regarding the shipment of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers was not implemented:

“Of the 262,000 tons of fertilizer that must go to Malawi, 20 tons are blocked in ports in Latvia, Estonia, Belgium and the Netherlands. Barriers to the export of Russian agricultural products were to be removed under the agreement between Russia and the UN. In this context, it is not possible to talk about the extension of the grain agreement after May 18 without eliminating 5 systematic problems”. (AA)
