Poland awaits German approval for plane shipment to Ukraine
Poland has reportedly requested permission from the German government to deliver ex-Soviet designed fighter jets to Ukraine.
According to news from the German news agency DPA, which is based in government circles, it was claimed that Poland requested permission for the delivery of MiG-29 aircraft purchased from Germany in the past to Ukraine.
In 2002, Germany sold 23 MiG-29 fighter jets to Poland, which took over the East German National People’s Army (NVA). Polish President Andrzej Duda said his country had delivered eight MiG-29 fighter jets in its stock to Ukraine.
However, for Poland to hand over fighter jets purchased from Germany, the approval of the Berlin administration is required. Alongside Poland, Slovakia announced that it had delivered four MiG-29s to kyiv. (AA)
