Confidential Documents Crisis: US Intelligence Infiltrates Russia’s Most Important Institutions

In the US, the crisis continues due to the leaking of secret military documents related to many current issues, especially the war in Ukraine, and their publication on social networks.

In the statement from the Pentagon, the US Department of Defense, which launched an investigation into the incident, indicated that “an interagency study has been initiated that focuses on assessing the impact on our national security and our allies.” US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said they were determined to find the source of the leak.

The documents that emerged on April 7 include details about the Ukraine-Russia war, US intelligence activities in the war, US monitoring of Iran and China, and eavesdropping on talks of some allies.

‘INTERNAL CONFLICT IN RUSSIA GROWS’

In the newly revealed secret documents, attention was drawn to the dimensions of the conflict within Russia fighting in Ukraine and the influence of US intelligence on Russian forces. According to the New York Times news, the new secret 27-page documents showed that a much larger “civil war” was taking place within the Russian administration regarding the Ukraine war than previously thought.

According to this, Russian intelligence is angry with the army, which gave false information about the number of Russian soldiers who died in the war. It was noted that the army’s failure to provide information on Russia’s losses caused unease within the country’s intelligence.

There is also information in the documents that Russian leader Vladimir Putin personally intervened to resolve the crisis between Yevgeni Prigozin, the founder of Wagner, the mercenary group fighting in Ukraine, and Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu. The comment that internal tension in Moscow caused Putin to fail to achieve a military victory in Ukraine for more than 13 months drew attention in the documents.

The new documents also revealed that American intelligence had infiltrated and entrenched almost all elements of Russian military and intelligence units. It was noted that thanks to the presence of US intelligence in Russia, Washington was able to come up with Moscow’s plans for the Ukraine war in advance.

In many leaked documents, special forces from many Western countries were also seen to be operating in Ukraine. According to the BBC news, in a document dated March 23, it was stated that the largest foreign special unit in Ukraine belonged to the UK with a team of 50 people, followed by Latvia, France, the US and the Netherlands.
