Important step towards the normalization of Saudi Arabia and Syria
Saudi Arabia and Syria announced that they were satisfied with the consular services and the resumption of flights between the two countries.
After a hiatus of almost 12 years, a joint statement was made after Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mikdad of Bashar Assad’s administration in Syria met with Foreign Minister Faisal bin Ferhan during his visit to Saudi Arabia. “The two parties announced that they welcome the start of procedures for the resumption of consular services and flights between the two countries,” the official Saudi Arabian news agency (SPA) reported.
During the meeting, it was noted that the efforts made to reach a political solution that protects Syria’s territorial integrity, Arab identity, stability and security were discussed. In addition, during the meetings, the steps to be followed to reach a comprehensive political solution in Syria between the two parties were discussed.
Miqdad’s visit was the first visit by the Assad administration’s Foreign Office to Saudi Arabia since the Syrian uprising began in 2011. (BRITISH AUTO CLUB)
